Marin:
County north of San Francisco, across the Golden Gate, with a wealth of natural beauty including Point Reyes National Seashore, Muir Woods National Monument and Mount Tamalpais State Park. A landscape rich in expensive homes including the mansions of George Lucas, Carlos Santana, Bonnie Raitt and Andre Agassi. Huge estates, large tracts of open space and hundreds living in tents, cars and shelters. Miwok and Pomo land, now covered with a hidden wealth of poverty and an abundance of diversity.

Interfaith:
Baha'i, Buddhist, Catholic, Episcopalian, Jewish, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian, Sufi, Unitarian, Wiccan, Agnostic, and others--housed and unhoused residents of Marin.

Homeless:
Unhoused, structurally challenged, seekers of shelter, artists, musicians, poets, goodhearted and spiritual human beings, temporarily roofless, people coming home.

Chaplaincy:
A sacred and inclusive community of people who live together under the ceiling of the sky in the temple of Nature on the mothering home-planet called Earth. A cooperative side-by-side effort that creates pathways of hope and encouragement, survival of the body and revival of the soul. A common journey of presence, counseling, guidance, community-building, artistic expression and peaceful action.

The Marin Interfaith Homeless Chaplaincy:
Faces, names, real and honest companionship along the adventure of home-finding in the spirit of compassion, justice and understanding. The right thing to do at the right time. We're homeless but not hopeless. We have some enthusiasm for life and a desire to pursue it. This desire may lead us to success, but it may not. Yet we care about what's around the next corner.
Life does not end with homelessness. It can add an interesting facet to expectations. We try to find something to occupy our time, like art or music or poetry...or simply being present with one another. We find something here that we can't find anyplace else. Memories surface, we express our feelings and thoughts--the truth of our lives together.

The Homeless Chaplaincy is a wonderful collection of unhoused and housed people who create life's art together. We seek wellness. We strive for understanding, acceptance and justice. We are Baha'i, Buddhist, Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Sufi and many others, but we all have a street-level, grounded, honest faith.

Thank you for joining us along the higher trails of the heart, mind and soul!
