"Soul
Carpentry" was the first music project developed by the Chaplaincy.
It was recorded in 1997, and the songs that it contains have become
mainstays in the Chaplaincy repertoire.
From
the insert:
This
is a gift from giving people who are often faces in the dark, yet
who somehow find ways to walk in the light. Sleeping in doorways
among million dollar homes or in tents just across from churches
is a way of life for so many who simply seek hope, or as we say,
H.ome O.n P.lanet E.arth- HOPE. As a part of this search, artists
are looking for liberation and expression of the human spirit along
lonely paths through the urban forest. Each contributor to this
album is a soul carpenter in their own right. Every song tells the
story and sings a song of real people who live each day on the margins
or edges of America. They are a new kind of pioneer in the urban
wilderness building their lives within the journey of community,
a communion of belonging made in the surprising image of the Creative
Spirit.
"Soul
Carpentry" is available (cassette or CD) for any generous donation
to the Chaplaincy.

Kurt
Brahm, "Peer Chaplain" and balladeer, has amassed a vast
and diverse collection of songs. Included in his portfolio are a
number of arrangements of Anna Ione's poems.
Kurt's
musical craftmanship adds a new dynamic to Anna's verse. His guitar
and vocal abilities merge to bring the poetry into new life.
